Monday already! The past few days have been whirlwind with a few family medical situations and the stinky news that Lilly has another tumor. She’s been healthy since her last surgery, so it was only a matter of time for our illness prone pup to have something else wrong. She was already scheduled to have her teeth cleaned this coming Friday, so we are just adding the tumor removal to the schedule while she is asleep. I’m so thankful for the three day weekend coming up!
This month is heart health month, so in celebration of healthy hearts and to spread awareness I’ve dedicated my posts in February to cardio exercise. Today’s topic? My favorite running posts from the year and a half (almost two years) I’ve been blogging. It’s amazing how big of a journey I’ve been on with LGRS. I love looking back to some of my original posts and see how much I’ve learned. Running has always been my tried and true love when it comes to exercise and LGRS originally started as a running blog before morphing into more.
My all-time favorite running memory is from the 2013 Christmas Town 5k in McAdenville, NC. Jon and I registered through our local Y and before we knew it almost his entire family was signed up as well. It was our first night race through the most perfect small town in our area. The entire town decorates their houses for Christmas and people come from all over to drive through. For the race, the town closed the roads and the runners were able to have an up close view of the lights while running by. This was the first race Jon and I ran together in its entirety. (Jon is much faster than me, so it was a welcome surprise for him to slow down and stick with me.) Right as we crossed the finish line, he stopped and gave me a big ol’ kiss right in front of everyone. It was such a cheesy romantic moment that truly made my knees go weak.
