Happy New Year! It’s amazing how quickly two weeks can fly by but still seem like forever ago at the same time. Since we last talked, Christmas and New Years happened along with a much needed 8 day trip to North Carolina to see our families. We spent our time taking long walks, going to the park, visiting all sorts of relatives and friends, eating way too much, and having a wonderful time. Seeing family after spending so much time away felt like a dream come true.
It was wonderful to visit but that didn’t stop me from sneaking away a few times to workout. My workout regimen was much lighter than usual but taking a break isn’t always a bad thing. Up first was my “back to basics workout” that I was able to squeeze in after a full day and dinner. It’s quick and simple but perfect for when you have a tight time frame.
Next was an early morning adventure to try Orange Theory Fitness. Stay tuned for a full breakdown on Thursday, but I will say it was a great time.
Next came a quick at home body blast when I didn’t have any equipment available. Maintaining my strength training is always the hardest part about traveling for me but this circuit got the job done.
Last came a more complicated Dumbbell and TRX workout that my dad, Jon, and I did. (PS I got a TRX from my parents for Christmas! Such a cool gift!) If you don’t have a TRX you can always use a resistance band or modify the exercises to the dumbbell version. My triceps are still sore from this one…
My focus was not on my fitness while I was away but now I’m back and ready to work hard. This week is going to be tough to settle back into my routine but we are always more adaptable than we realize.
