Hi! Was your weekend just wonderful?
It feels like our weekend brought a huge breath of fresh air into our house. There was nothing particularly special or different but for some reason it was just great. Highlights included movie night on Friday night, a Saturday morning full of workouts, a music festival on Saturday afternoon, Church and a soccer game on Sunday, and a cook-out with our neighbors Sunday night. Nothing truly different but somewhere along the way it made a difference.
The sermon at church yesterday felt like it was meant for me. The theme was embracing your imperfections and acknowledging the beauty in aging. In a world full of “perfect body images” and photo shopped everything it’s hard to remember that we don’t have to be anything but ourselves. As someone who works full time in fitness and spends her days in a gym, it’s always encouraging to hear words like those. We are all guilty of falling into this trap but I have found myself there more frequently than I care to admit. I’ve never had a huge amount of confidence in myself and am an excellent self doubter. I just have to remember, I’m a constant work in progress that will never be perfect but am exactly who I should be right now.
Workout recap:
Monday: I was feeling under the weather so I subbed two of my three classes scheduled for the day. I ended up teaching a 45 minute BODYCOMBAT™ class that was a struggle to get through. Looking back I shouldn’t have taught but there were no other options at the time.
Tuesday: I decided to rest and give my body time to feel better. It was a good choice and made a huge difference in the rest of my week.
Wednesday: I completed a really fun full body strength workout at the gym. It felt great not to do any cardio and rep out some lifting.
Thursday: I taught my usual 45 minute BODYCOMBAT™ class in the morning followed by a full hour long BODYCOMBAT™ class that night. It was a full on ninja cardio day for sure.
Friday: Leg day! I timed my workout perfectly so that there was absolutely no one in the gym except me for almost my entire workout. It was great!
Saturday: I participated in a 45 minute BODYCOMBAT™ class and a 45 minute BODYPUMP™ class. It felt great to be a participant, just enjoy the workout, and have fun.
Sunday: Rest day. I always try to reserve Sundays for doing nothing and it always works out so nicely.
It started off as a slightly rocky week but ended up being a great workout week. I strength trained three full times plus had plenty of cardio training. This week I’m hoping to get the same amount of strength training in and maybe even a little more!
