Healthy Thanksgiving Tips

February 9, 2022

Thanksgiving is almost around the corner, and it’s hard to realise.Jon and I are planning a huge turkey dinner for just the 2 of us this Thanksgiving. Considering this is the first time we’ve attempted to roast a turkey, we can expect a lot of commotion.

Your healthy living goals begin to disappear away as your guests start to arrive for such holiday. Here are ten ways to keep thier Thanksgiving healthy and focused.

1) You may work out from the comfort and privacy as you watch the parade. Do not overindulge at supper in order not to go over ones daily calorie allowance.

2) Maintaining a regular mealtime routine is essential to a healthy diet. Having a midday meal does not necessitate a complete reorganisation of your schedule. Continue to eat the same meals at the same times each day as you normally do.

3) Keep your body hydrated by drinking a lot of water. To avoid overeating, take a full glass of water before every meal.

4) Use a kid’s plate for your meal. We tend to overfill our plates as well as eat larger portions just as we actually require. To avoid overeating, you should use a smaller plate.

5) You don’t have to eat everything on your plate, even if you want to. There’s no point in trying to join a clean plate club now that it’s closed to new members. Don’t eat too much food.

6) After dinner, go out for a walk or do dishes. Reduce the likelihood of going back for seconds by removing yourself from eating area (or thirds).

7) Maintain a low-alcohol intake Drinking less is always preferable. There are many empty calories in liquor (regardless of the type), so saving your calories for dessert is a better use of them than drinking wine.

8) Play a game in the park. It’s not about the food on Thanksgiving; it’s about spending time with loved ones. So go ahead and enjoy yourself! Play a game of football, corn hole, basketball, as well as hop scotch instead.

9) The day after Thanksgiving, schedule a big workout to keep you on track and focused on your goals. If you recognise you have such a killer workout in 12 hours, you’ll be less tempted to eat that 3rd piece of pie.

10) Don’t be afraid to politely decline a request. Instead of allowing your grandmother to persuade you to eat some other cookie, inquire about her favourite Thanksgiving memory.

About Me

Jenna

Group Exercise Instructor

I started Little Green Running Shoes in May of 2013 to help my personal training clients see a different side of me. Most of the time when someone meets a personal trainer, the first things that run through their head are :
“Maybe I should ask her about the weird twinge in my back.”
“Oh, I haven’t been to the gym in a while.”
“I wonder what she’s like when she isn’t at the gym.”
This is exactly how I came up with the idea to start LGRS. Believe it or not, just because I work as a personal trainer, I am still human. I love ice cream, baking, reading, horseback riding, and being outside. I also love to run, teach group exercise, lift weights, help others workout, and stay healthy. I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina with four younger sisters (Yes, four sisters) and two amazing parents. My sisters and I all look alike (in my opinion) and we all love to dance.
