Happy President’s Day! Fun presidential fact of the day from Jon is: Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon were the first presidents to hold all four federally elected offices. (House, Senate, VP, Pres). Who knew!? Not me! Moving onto the last few freezing days.
Lilly’s Surgery on Friday:
Friday morning I dropped Lilly off for her teeth cleaning and leg tumor removal. I called out of work to be able to pick her up on time and treat myself to a few hours of stressing in private. (I never do well around other people when things like this happen so it’s easier to just hide for a few hours.) After I dropped her off, I went straight to the gym and worked out for over an hour. Once I was exhausted, I ran a few errands, grabbed some coffee, and headed home for a shower. Not two seconds after sitting down to eat my lunch the vet called to tell me it was almost time to come get my girl. So back in the car I went and boy was I glad to see that pup’s face. She did great in both of her procedures and the vet techs couldn’t stop talking about how sweet she was. We got home and settled in for a quiet afternoon of snuggles and recovery.
Car trouble and cycling on Valentine’s Day:
Saturday morning temps dropped to record lows, which meant I was nervous about my car starting and getting to the Y to teach 8 am cycling. I went out to heat the car over an hour before I had to leave to teach my class and of course it wouldn’t start. Poor Jon woke up to the Valentine’s lovely message of “WAKE UP THE CAR IS DEAD” panicked yell from the door. Small amounts of chaos ensued followed by a frantic call to our neighbor for a jump (we usually keep one of our cars at work due to lack of parking at home). Sadly we weren’t able to get it started and our neighbor was incredibly generous to offer their car to me.
I made it to class right on time and only a little frazzled. There were 20 people there which most certainly made it worth all the trouble. Also, my playlist was rockin! I copied the entire thing for ya’ll to use next year! I left the Y feeling much better.
We spent our Valentine’s day with AAA in the snow and taking our car in. Turns out it was the starter that decided to go bad on the coldest night of the year so far. After all of that, it was time to relax so we walked up the road to a delicious Mexican restaurant before working off our dinner with an epic game of Wii dance.
Frozen Sunday with cookies:
Just when we though it couldn’t get any colder, temps dropped even lower on Sunday! I spent the entire day under multiple layers of clothing and blankets. I had no motivation to go anywhere so it turned into a really quiet lazy day. The most productive thing I did all day was make homemade pinwheel cookies. They didn’t look as good as the pinterest image but they do taste good!
